How a basement cleanout works
Send photos from the bottom of the stairs, and a photo of the stairs themselves. Whether the basement has a walkout door or only an interior staircase is the biggest variable in a basement job, and we want to know it before we quote, not after.
We bring hand trucks, straps and a second person. Furniture comes up the stairs. Appliances come up on a dolly. Carpet gets cut into strips that carry. We load everything straight onto the trailer, sweep the floor, and send you a photo of the empty room.
Basements in the Richmond area
Older city houses in the Fan, Northside and Bellevue have low basements with narrow stairs and sometimes a coal-chute door that is the only outside way in. Split-levels in Bon Air and Tuckahoe have a lower level that walks out under the deck, which is easy. Newer houses in Midlothian and Glen Allen have full unfinished basements that became storage the week the family moved in.
We work in all of them. The price accounts for the access, and we do not change it once we see the room.
After a flood
Wet carpet and padding are heavy, and they get worse the longer they sit. Cut it out, get it out, and get air moving. We can be there the same day for a flooded basement in most of Richmond and Henrico if you text before noon.
