What Ashland jobs look like
Ashland is a real town with a railroad down the middle of the main street, and the houses near it are old. Victorians and four-squares with attics, full basements and porches that have collected a century of stuff. Estate cleanouts downtown are careful work, and a lot of what comes out is worth saving, so we sort as we go.
Randolph-Macon College adds a season. Every May the rental houses around campus turn over at once, and landlords need them empty in a week. That is a job we are built for.
Outside the town line it is Hanover acreage: barns, sheds, and houses on long gravel drives.
Where your stuff goes
Hanover’s Route 301 transfer station on Courtland Farm Road is a short drive from Ashland, and that is where our trailer goes. It charges by the load, and that is in your price. Residents can use the county’s free convenience centers for about a pickup load if they want to do a first pass themselves.
Before the transfer station, furniture from an Ashland estate goes to the Habitat ReStore, which is happy to see solid old pieces. Household goods go to Goodwill. Metal is recycled.

Things to know before you text
- Old houses. Attics with pull-down stairs, basements with outside entrances. Tell us how we get to each, and the price will already reflect it.
- May move-outs. Book early. That week fills up.
- Gravel drives. If the trailer cannot reach the building, say so and we plan the carry.
